The Best Webcam You Didn't Know You Already Have!
I want to tell you about the best webcam you probably already have that you didn’t know was a webcam.
Hey everybody, welcome back to another FUTRtech video. I have been talking about how to improve your video for video conferences, and people are always asking me, how can I make it better without spending much money. I’ve got a solution for you folks. Here it is, your iPhone. We all have enjoyed the great videos we are able to get from this phone, but with ElGato’s EpocCam, you can make it your wireless webcam.
You may have heard of ElGato from their very popular CamLink 4K HDMI converter that lets you use your Mirrorless or DSLR camera as a webcam. EpocCam is a great addition to your setup, and it is incredibly easy to use. All you need is an iPhone and a Windows or MacOS system.
First thing you need to do is go to the App store and download EpocCam. There are two versions, a free one and a paid one. It cost me $7.99 and by getting the paid version, it allows you to shoot 1080p video and removes the watermark. The paid version gives you a bunch of other features too that make it worth spending the money.
Once you have downloaded it from the app store, you start the setup process. It gives you links to download some drivers for the computer side of the connection, which are quick to install. Then you need to give it access to the camera, microphone and network on your phone. Once this is done, EpocCam connects to your computer and off you go.
I have found EpocCam to work pretty flawlessly so far. A few times, I have had trouble getting it to connect to the computer, but restarting the EpocCam Daemon through activity monitor cleared things right up.
