Several month ago, I had an opportunity to spend some time with Mike Rogers who was the commander of the U.S. Cyber Command and the Director of the NSA. He stressed how important it is to know the supply chain of your equipment in order to maintain a secure environment. He stressed that not only do you need to know your suppliers, but you need to know the entire supply chain of all the components.

Windstream Files For Bankruptcy

Windstream has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy following a $310 million dollar judgement against Windstream brought by the hedge fund Aurelius Capital Management.

The Wall Street Journal reports, "The rural broadband provider’s chapter 11 filing Monday is the culmination of a bruising 18 month legal fight between the telecom company and Aurelius, which had argued a two-year-old spinoff of the company's fiber-optic cable network violated the covenants on one of its bonds," regarding sale-leaseback restrictions.

Apple Event To Be Held March 25th

Apple’s first big event of 2019 will be held at the Steve Jobs Theater at the Apple Campus on March 25th. The rumors are that there will be a big announcements around Apple’s subscription services offerings. There have been talks in the works for a long time around Apple offering a streaming video subscriptions service in addition to magazine subscriptions. While there have been initial complaints about the oversized cut that Apple intends to take, it still remains to be seen wha the model will be.

Forced arbitration has been a sticking point with me for some time. It is an increasingly common practice in many companies to force their workers to sign binding arbitration agreements.

Companies say that this is to reduce the overwhelming costs of litigation (what the heck are you doing to get sued that much), but the real reason is that it tips things heavily in favor of the company who chooses the arbitrator and manages the process.
